The Person that Inspires me

The person I admire is Datuk Nicol Ann David, a Malaysian professional squash player also known as Malaysia Squash Queen who is currently ranked world number 1  in women's squash. Born and bred in Penang,David is the daughter of Ann Marie David, a retired Malaysian Chinese school teacher, and Desmond David, a Malaysian Indian engineer, who is also a former state athlete and footballer.David scored seven A's for her Penilaian Menengah Rendah and obtained seven A's in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia  which she studied at Convent Green Lane Secondary School in Green Lane, Penang . Nicol started playing squash at the age of five, and received coaching when she was eight years old. David's squash career began in 1992 and that is when she won silver in the Under-14 category of the Penang State Junior Championship.

The drive and passion she has in her is what inspires me the most. Despite of her glorious achievements over all these years, she is still working hard to strive for the better. Her vision is to get into the Olympics and win an Olympic Gold if possible. All these would not be possible without good discipline and humble personality as well. She inspires me to not just settle with what I already have but also to further pursue my dream with passion instead of giving up. She has won numerous titles and awards including the recent victory after beating defending champion Raneem El Weleily at the Malaysia Open last week.  It was her 11th year in a row of making it into the finals and regaining the title of Women's CIMB Malaysian Open.

In this world, nothing is impossible if we have the courage to face every challenge. She gave me an impact to study hard and never give up to score my daily goals.

  1. Please don't refer to her as David as it might mean her father.
